Are you a Feminist struggling to make sense of domestic life?

I checked out a bunch of Old Wives' Tales today on predictions of what bits Splodge will have.

This one says I am having a girl.
As does this one.
These lists suggest an hermaphrodite, with girlish leanings!
The "Chinese gender calendar" says Splodge will be a boy, though.

  • My tummy is watermelon or egg shaped as opposed to round
  • Splodge is carrying, and kicks, very low
  • Splodge favours the right side
  • Through my pregnancy I have wanted fresh fruits, veges, sweets and carbs - and been not too keen on lots of meat or a lot of cheese
  • My skin has been na$$$ty
  • The hair on my head has looked stringier and become coarser (the individual hairs have become thicker and rougher feeling since being pregnant - I'm used to lots of thin strands)
  • The hair (legs, under arms, tummy)on my body has been growing at a rate of knots
  • I suffered morning sickness in my first trimester
  • Although I have put on flesh all over my body, I don't look pregnant from behind at all - it's all carried "in front"
  • A needle and thread dangled over my tummy went in circles, not back and forth
  • My hands have been soft, not dry, throughout my pregnancy
  • My feet have felt colder since being pregnant
  • I favour sleeping on my left side
  • My face has been puffy and round since being pregnant - it's not hollowed out at all, and some days is positively knobbly

Most of these (but not all) apparently indicate Splodge is a girl.
Regardless, my partner has taken to calling hir "Captain Bloodnut" in anticipation of her being born a red-head.

Oh I've heard those stories before, I had a neighbor how had 4 daughters, then when one of the daughters had her first child, you guessed it. It was a boy, so that baby was like the Prince. I always say as long as it's healthy I'll take it, boy girl what ever, twins even better your twice blessed.

I am not really craving meat - in fact, the thought of it turned my stomach through the first trimester. And I have put on weight all round (very distressingly) but my basic shape has stayed the same, apart from the tummy out front. Bub does cuddle in close though, which is apparently a boy sign.

My girlfriend has had a boy last month, another pregnant friend's ultrasound said boy, and a third (due the month before me) already has a little girl, and would love a boy - so I'd like a girl to even things out a bit, too. ;)
Not to mention that my partner's oldest of three boys, and his parents have one grandchild already - a boy.

Hum, I think it's a boy, why? Well, according to you, your carrying in the front. When I was expecting my first son, I was pointed, I did not show for about 4-5 months, you would have thought I looked like a cat, considering that was my first. Then baby number 2 also a boy was similar, but I was craving more meat especially hot-dogs, made in all kinds of ways. Then baby number 3 I needed maternity clothes almost immediately, I was all over round, and craved more white foods. Baby number 4, was always hungry, and I also needed maternity clothes right away. That was the second girl, today that child is coming up very shortly to her Sweet Sixteen. Where did the time go?
