Hello, Stacey! Welcome to the community. I just look at 'about me' sections as an introduction. The internet version of the "your name, hometown, and major" question that is so popular on college campuses.

I am also very interested in education as a civil right. I think that we would greatly benefit as a society if more people were able to be educated. What changes would you like to see?

I look forward to talking with you more!

HI Stacie,
What a great piece about the book written by the daughter of Alice Walker, Rebecca Walker's "Baby Love". She must be pretty interesting, it is not easy to be a feminist and be at home. I had read one of the storys by Alice Walker as part of class assignment, in 2006, I was taking a English Lit.II class. It was pretty strange, well that is her mother speaking, and her experiences were quite different. I can't remember if the story I read was "In My Mothers Garden" or "In Love and Trouble", the later was more complicated. I love to write, and that is a pretty big deal to those of us, who have that agenda, and do not have the support of traditional funds to get the job done, so to speak. It throws a monkey wrench in alot of different directions. I stood very straight forward on this one, I am usually a pretty easy going individual, just don't get in my way, (thats what I tell my kids). It's my youngest daughter that is fifeteen that is kind of not happy about anything to do with me, right now. I feel kind of bad about that, but I do not have to apologize. I work very hard at home, and seldom have the support from my family. I usually do all the household, as I have learned this is what is expected of me. Then I also have my blogs, I have just about lost count, I love to blog on blog.com, I have no idea about how to invite people, it's never as easy as it seems. Then I also have animals, that is where my youngest one supposedly has most of her anger. I don't know why? she just loves to clash over the idea of things, she is a brat, and her father certainly helps that situation. But we dred arguing with her, she is fifeteen and just as well might be an adult, but obviously is still a child. The animals I have are cared for in an excellent manner. I also do a little dog breeding on the side as a means to making a couple of dollars, but the economy is not great right now. I mean people are genuinely hurting, so it is really not the most important thing on peoples list. But, I happen to have 3 adorable yorkies ready to go, with one that someone has asked for consideration. I will prouably have to take the consideration, other wise my pups will get older, and then I am at the disadvantage. But, enough with that, your baby is blessed to have a mommie that is so wanting and able to make such a whole connection. Those moments are the best with your new baby, and should be some of the most rewarding moments in your life. Be well, and enjoy your reading, may your heart always take you where you need to go.

Profile Information

About Me:
Hmmm. I always have trouble with the "About Me" section. How do I sum myself up in a concise and complete way-- a succint snapshot that will ultimately reveal me to you.

I could tell you my age (33), that I am graduate student and stay-at-home-mom, that I have two children who live with me, girl age 13 and boy age 13 months, and two step-children who live without me, girl age 14 and girl age 16, that I am a wife to man age 36.

That is not the whole story. I am other things too: A woman who writes (do you have to get paid to call yourself a writer?), a former teacher--passionate about education as a civil right, a wanna-be gardener and locavore, an avid reader, a feminist, an activist...

a person trying to find place and balance through (and outside of) all of these roles.

Maybe the point is I am more and less and sometimes feel like nothing at all...
