Hi Char :) That sounded like a tough decision (quitting, when you're so gifted and trained) - but I'm glad you feel good about being home again and getting more time with Chris and the kids. I hope (I believe) you will have more opportunities down the line to use your counseling gifts, whether it's paid work or not. I think your desire to adopt troubled children is wonderful (and admirable) - it's always the older kids who've been shipped from one foster home to another that no one wants to adopt. Any child who joins your family will be very blessed and loved!! PS - Anna and Asher are adorable, I love the photos!
Hello, Charlotte! Welcome to the community. Congratulations to you on your Master's degree. My education is on hold for a little while, as I can't really take lab classes with Simon in tow. My husband just graduated last week with his Bachelor's in critical literature - we'll soon be off to a new place for grad school.
It's so wonderful that you will be able to help an older child have a home and ease their mental pain. Matthew and I have discussed doing something similar after we've raised our own teenager(s).
How old is your little girl? My son was born this year in February. How is your son taking to being a big brother?
I know that feminism means different things to different people. I'm glad that you are giving this community a chance in spite of its name!

About Me:
My wonderful husband and I are both nearly finished with our Master's degrees in Counseling. We plan to use our counseling training in non-profit and community-based programs, and eventually in adopting older children with emotional/behavioral problems. Right now we're enjoying our brand new daughter and two-year-old son -- after a brief stint as a part-time counselor I'm once again a full-time mommy!
Do you consider yourself a Feminist?
I always considered myself the farthest possible thing from a feminist, but this website resonates with all my beliefs in the importance of a mother's role and the need for strong families!
