feministhousewives

Are you a Feminist struggling to make sense of domestic life?

As a feminist housewife with few feminist housewifely friends, I spend a lot of time getting my feminist kicks and expanding my mind beyond the joys of bicarb paste for cleaning, by reading blogs.
Sometimes I agree with what I read, sometimes I don't, and sometimes I end up bored beyond tears by just what and how often people will blog (really, just how many posts about the convoluted American voting system can someone who will never vote there - despite being effected by the outcome - can a woman handle?), but I know I do spend what probably amounts to several hours a day reading all kinds of pop-culture feminist cant each day.
So what's on your list of regular reads? Not those "there was nothing much on my usual haunts, so I'll check my secondary list" type blogs, but the ones you find yourself visiting regularly and often?

My list:
I think one of the Big Ones for feminist reading online is certainly Feministe - though I sometimes find myself very upset by just how arrogant and ethnocentric many of the posts and commenters can be over there.
They had a great post recently, about raising your daughter as a feminist.

I also love the collective magic that is Shakesville, because the group of people posting each have their own voices, different opinions and focuses, which makes for a wildly varied and eclectic experience that ranges from serious political blogging to silly memes.
My favourite poster over there is probably the Portly Dyke. She doesn't post a lot, but when she does I really enjoy what she has to say - and I've learned a few things from her opinions and graceful handling of trolls and dissenters alike.

For UK feminism I like to visit The F-Word, though it's not updated as often as I'd like, and in similar fashion to the news on television and in newspapers when I was there, they definitely cast a wider net and report on more international topics than simply 'feminism in Great Britain and what feminists at home think of stuff OS'.
This was the blog where I first became aware of Fay Weldon's suggestion of temporarily sterilising teenage girls in Britain - at least, that's what she apparently wrote in The Daily Mail, one of those peons of all things tabloid and trashy! :)

For feminist opinion closer to home I haunt Hoyden About Town, where I can get cheap thrills by seeing famous Australian women such as Kathy Freeman featured in their Header montage.
They also post on international affairs quite regularly, but the reason this is one of my firm favourites is because of the authors' belief in Indigenous Australian rights, which is another issue I feel quite passionate about, and think is a natural ally of the feminist movement in Australia.

For feminist and liberal parenting of all sorts I dash back to the US and revel in the joys that can be found at Offsprung. I think all the blogs there are worth a look (though personally, being fascinated by gender and sexuality politics, I find myself visiting Mombian a little more often than her brothers and sisters).

And my newest discovery in the blog arsenal is Bue Milk, a feminist parenting blog by an Australian mother. I spent too long reading it last night.
